Public Liability Claims

You may have the right to make a Public Liability Compensation Claim if you have suffered an injury on public or private property.

Public Liability Claims fall under the Civil Liability Act 2002 NSW and cover many kinds of accidents including but not limited to:

  • Slip and falls;
  • Accidents in a public place;
  • Accidents in a private venue such as a pub, club or restaurant;
  • Accidents on building and construction sites;
  • Injuries whilst working for a host employer.

Time limits for claiming compensation

Court proceedings for a Public Liability Claim must be commenced on or before the 3rd anniversary of the date of accident.

Court proceedings cannot be commenced after this date except with the leave of the Court.
